A record producer or music producer oversees and manages the sound recording and production of a band or performer's music, which may range from recording one song to recording a lengthy concept album. He will work with artists and help them to improve their songs, lyrics or arrangements.
Premier electronic music and DJ school in Barcelona. Nowadays, production skills can simply imply getting something out there that people can listen to and that other DJs can play, something that didn’t exist before. Mashups, Re-edits, Remixes and Original productions fill our daily menu.
Dubbing, mixing or re-recording is a post-production process used in filmmaking and video production in which additional or supplementary recordings are "mixed" with original production sound to create the finished soundtrack. Dubbing is often used to localize a foreign movie.
WE ARE BARCELONA MUSIC STUDIO, WE BRING MUSICIANS TO THE NEXT LEVEL.
The music producer is in charge of either writing the material or if he didn’t write it, he’s in charge of organizing it and making it sound like a cohesive song. He calls all the shots on what’s played, and when it’s played, and how it’s played, and the sounds that are used, or the vocals that are recorded if they’re correct or not. The producer is in charge of everything.”
Today’s music producer is handling every role that we had 5 different guys handling 10 years ago. They are engineering and mixing as they are writing the songs. They are playing the instruments, choosing the co-writers, supplying the studios and even balance the finances of project.
Most recording happen in layers, like a painting. An artist starts with a base color, and then roughs in basic shapes in various related tones, then adds further detail on top. The same kind of thing happens with a musical recording. Any or all of these layers can be done at any studio anywhere in the world by any mix of players and helpers.
The parts are all recorded onto separate tracks, often multiple tracks per instrument. The mixer decides how each track sounds individually and collectively. We use a spatial analogy to separate the sounds so that the listener can hear them all distinctly. Again, these can be done in different places and by different people. Usually an album is mixed by a team.
Mastering is all about creating a unifying sound and a glossy sheen across all the tracks. The most common tools for mastering are some combination of compression, reverb, and EQ. It's a subtle art. The difference between mixed tracks and mastered tracks is easy to hear but hard to describe. Mastering can be done by a single person or team, but not always.
